Best Paint Colours for Toronto Homes in 2026

The colours we're seeing most in Toronto homes this year — warm whites, soft greens, and saturated accents — plus how to choose the right shade for your space.
After painting hundreds of Toronto homes through the winter season, here are the palettes we're applying most in 2026 — and the rationale behind each. If you're stuck between samples, this is a good starting point.
1. Warm whites are still winning
After a few years of cool greys, Toronto homeowners are firmly back on warm whites. We're applying Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace, White Dove, and Simply White most often. They feel clean without going hospital-bright, and they read well under the soft north light most Toronto homes get.
2. Soft sage and olive greens for accent rooms
Powder rooms, libraries, and primary bedrooms are getting low-saturation greens. Saybrook Sage, October Mist (BM 2024 Colour of the Year), and Sherwin-Williams Evergreen Fog are the workhorses.
3. Deep, moody dining rooms
If you want a single show-stopping room, dining rooms are taking the spotlight. Hale Navy, Wrought Iron, and Black Beauty all pair beautifully with brass fixtures and natural wood furniture. The key is high-quality matte or eggshell to keep the depth without glare.
4. Earthy terracotta and clay accents
We're seeing an uptick in warm clay tones — especially on built-ins and feature walls. Carrington Beige, Audubon Russet, and Sherwin-Williams Cavern Clay add warmth without committing to a high-saturation room.
5. Painted brick and exterior trim
Toronto's painted-brick trend is still strong. The most-requested combos: charcoal body with crisp white trim, soft white body with black trim, and the increasingly popular two-tone where the lower half is painted in a deeper colour than the upper.
How to actually pick the right colour
- Sample on multiple walls — north, south, east, and west light all behave differently.
- View at 8am, 1pm, and 8pm. Lighting changes everything.
- Use 2x2 ft samples minimum. Tiny chips are misleading.
- Live with the sample for 48 hours before deciding.
- Pick whites against your floors, not your walls.
